Our School

Ysgol Dafydd Llwyd was established in 2001 as a result of the successful growth of the Welsh Language Unit at Ysgol Hafren. Almost all the children come from the non-Welsh speaking homes, and we are proud of the dedication of our children, our staff, our parents and our governors in fostering a passion for Welshness at a very early age. The language is alive here in the Severn Valley.

In 2016, the school moved to a purpose-built new building. Our dream was realised and now, the school stands proudly for everyone to see. Our banners are seen waving resolutely and with pride.

We take pride in the attainment of our pupils at all levels. The school has a broad curriculum that provides all pupils with rich opportunities within a caring and happy environment.

ALN & WELLBEING

We aim to provide every pupil with the opportunity to develop his / her full potential with consideration given to the child's individual ability and needs. Teaching within the classroom in terms of the Curriculum for Wales, the Literacy and Numeracy Framework, Digital Competence Framework and the Teaching and Learning strategies meets the needs of all pupils.

However, we recognise that some children need extra support. We believe that early and appropriate intervention is important for a child with Additional Learning Needs. At Ysgol Dafydd Llwyd, we have an environment of encouragement, respect, and sensitivity so that pupils can succeed to their full potential. We use a number of strategies to support them and if necessary, we liaise with external agencies in order to fully meet pupils’ needs.

Mrs Edwards is our Additional Learning Needs Coordinator and Miss Josie is our Pastoral Care Practitioner. If you require any further information or to book an appointment please contact the school office or email swyddfa@dafyddllwyd.powys.sch.uk.
